DV lottery 2023: FAQ

The annual Lottery, where more than 50,000 lucky people will win the American Green Card, will be held in the fall of 2021. We've compiled the most important answers to questions about the Diversity Visa Progam 2023 so you can prepare for it ahead of time!

Why is the DV Lottery which is held in 2021 called 2023?

Don't let the number 2023 confuse you. It refers not to the year of the Lottery, but to the dates when all the winners are guaranteed to receive diversity visas. It is these visas that give you the right to move to America and receive a Green Card.

DV Program 2023: when it opens

The actual dates for the Green Card Lottery in 2021 are from October 6 to November 9, 2021. Drawing results will be announced in May 2022. The start time for entries is 12:00 p.m. Eastern U.S. time.

DV Lottery requirements in 2021

The following applicants are eligible to participate in the competition: (*) Have a complete high school education. Alternatively: within the last 5 years, the person must have worked in their occupation for at least 2 years. Check to see if your profession qualifies here: https://dvlottery.me/jobs-qualify-dv-lottery. (*) Have no problems with the law, criminal convictions, or criminal record. (*) Do not have any diseases that could harm American society. (*) Most importantly: applicants must have been born in a country allowed to participate in the lottery in a given year. If your country is not on this list, you may enter the lottery by indicating the country of birth of your spouse or parents. (*) There is no age restriction. But most participants under the age of 18 are disqualified because of the requirement for a high school education or work experience.

Countries eligible for DV Lottery in 2021

Diversity Visa Lottery 2023 is open to natives of all countries except the following:
Bangladesh, Brazil, Canada, China (including Hong Kong), Colombia, Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Haiti, Honduras, India, Jamaica, Mexico, Nigeria, Pakistan, Peru, Philippines, South Korea, United Kingdom (except Northern Ireland), Vietnam.
Note that the UK area includes the following countries: Anguilla, Bermuda, British Virgin Islands, Cayman Islands, Falkland Islands, Gibraltar, Montserrat, Pitcairn, St. Helena, and Turks and Caicos Islands. Northern Ireland does qualify.
Applicants born in Macau and Taiwan are allowed to participate in the DV-2023 Lottery.

How to participate in the Diversity Visa Lottery in 2021?

The rules of participation remain the same. On the dates of the lottery, you must fill out an application on the https://dvprogram.state.gov/ website, attach a compliant digital photo (get it here: https://visafoto.com/diversity-visa-lottery-photo ), and keep your confirmation number. You will need the confirmation number to check your status after the results are announced.
Participation in the DV lottery is and always will be free. Sites that charge a fee for submitting an application are fraudulent.

How do I prepare for the upcoming Green Card Lottery?

To avoid mistakes and disqualification of the application, you should prepare for the DV lottery in advance. Here are the steps you should take: (*) Collect in one place your passport, birth certificate, educational and vocational diplomas. You will also need documents for your family members. This will increase your chances of moving to the United States: winning makes the whole family eligible for the Green Card.

When will the results of DV Lottery 2023 be known?

Green Card lottery winners will be announced in May 2022. To find out if you win (or lose), go to the https://dvprogram.state.gov/ website and enter your Confirmation number. All results will be announced on the official website only! Any notifications by mail are fraudulent.

What do I do if I win the DV Lottery?

Winning the Diversity visa lottery does not give you a green card but makes you eligible for an immigrant visa. All winners must complete the DS-260 application form (https://dvlottery.me/blog/1700-ds-260_application_form), pass a medical exam (https://dvlottery.me/blog/1800-medical_for_green_card), and be interviewed at the embassy (https://dvlottery.me/blog/1400-prepare_for_dv_lottery_interview). Only on the basis of these activities will you be allowed to move to the United States.
